Our Design Service

It is important to understand that taking a design for a metal component and making it in carbon composite is not the right approach. A fresh look at the component should be taken and designed with composite in mind from the outset. This will give a product the same or higher rigidity and stiffness and a saving in weight.

The cost of composite moulding would appear high, but with properly designed components little post-moulding work is needed, saving machining and finishing time involved in making the same component in metal. Carbon Technology Ltd specialise in routing, drilling, reaming, countersinking, threading and grinding of mouldings, sheet and tubes. We can fit metal or composite fittings and inserts in to or on to composite mouldings, sheet and tube.

Design, moulding, CNC machining and assembly can be all done in house. This is part of our philosophy of keeping costs under control and maintaining a high standard of quality.

Drawings Files and Data

We can take drawings from a simple sketch with dimensions to cad files in many formats or use our in-house design service to produce the programs to machine the components you require. Our preferred format for 2D machining is DXF and for 3D machining is IGS or STP.
